In the name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful.
All praise is due to Allah(Glory to Him ) Who has created us with a beautiful look and take care us covering with His immense mercy. Peace and blessings of Allah be upon the one after whom there is no other prophet, who taught us how to worship of Allah.
Dear brothers and sisters, I hope you all are well by the grace of almighty Allah, the most High. Alhamdulillah, I'm also well by His mercy.
Today's world is considered as modern world. We shortened our distances, increased the production in both field agricultural and industrial using modern technology. But it is matter of regret that we could not reduce offense. Everyday, in every second offenses are taking place in the modern word. Stealing, robbery, loot, corruption, murder and rape and all kinds of offensive acts are now happening in the world.
We are being educated but why we can't reduce these peccabilities?
Where is the problem? And where is the solution?
I think this is because of lack our of taqwa (fearing of Allah).
The great teacher, whom upon revealed the final guideline for the mankind from the sky, prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Be conscious of Allah (Glory to Him) wherever you are. Follow the bad deeds with the good one to erase it and engage others with beautiful character."
In this hadith, prophet (peace be upon him) teaches us that we must have God consciousness in every aspects of our life. Wherever we are, in alone, in a public, in a leadership, weakness or strength we should be aware and fearful that Allah is watching us. This consciousness, keen awareness and fearfulness of Allah in every time, in every place is called taqwa.
Some companions explain the taqwa as following: if you were to walk through a thorny patch wearing a long cloth, how would you pass through that patch? Some answered they would gather cloth all together tightly and walk very consciously so that they can avoid tearing their cloth. Such consciousness is the example of taqwa.
There was a story for better understanding taqwa.
A teacher would love a student more than the rest. One-day the rest student asked the teacher why does he prefer the one?
In response, the teacher did an experiment among his students. He gave them food and say to go somewhere and eat the food where no one can watch you. So, students went different place and ate the treat except the one he (the teacher) loved more.
The teacher then asked the student why did not you eat?
He replied, you told to go eat somewhere where we can't be seen but there is nowhere I could go where Allah will not see me. That's why I couldn't eat.
This is why I love you more than the rest, the teacher answered.
This kind of consciousness is called taqwa. If we be conscious that Allah is watching me then we can't commit offense.
But is not easy to acquire this type of taqwa.
Imam Shafi (R) said, three things are very difficult :
1. To be generous when you have little.
2. To be fearful of Allah when you are alone.
3. To say the truth in front of someone whom you fear of hope for their good opinion.
Our prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) even call upon Allah for help. Muhammad( peace and blessings be upon him) used to say, oh Allah, I ask of You to bestow upon me taqwa.
So, we also should seek Allah's help to have high level of taqwa.
As much we will increase our taqwa, as much we could reduce offensive from the society.
The second part of the aforementioned hadith is, follow the bad deed with good one to erase it.
We many time become upset after committing a guilt and give up doing good thinking ownself siner.
But Allah the almighty look forward to us for forgiving if you seek his pardon.
We never give up good deed. Rather we should do more and more good deeds as we can erase our bad deed by good one.
The third part is about good character. If we follow the first two point then we can engage others with beautiful character without any doubt.
In fine, if we just follow this hadith then offensive will reduce from the world by the will of Allah (Glory to Him )
May Allah give us taufik to do so.
